The Universities and Colleges Union (UCU) has planned a series of strikes over pay and equality. The strikes are scheduled to run in February, March, and April, on Mon 14 - Fri 18 and 21-22 February and from 28 February to 2 March, Mon 21 March to Fri 25 March.
Several SSRMP modules are scheduled to be taught on days affected by the strike.
Lecturers are not legally obliged to inform us in advance whether or not they will be taking strike action. Therefore, it's possible that students who have booked onto modules taking place on strike days will not know whether their lectures will take place or not. We apologise that the SSRMP therefore cannot necessarily provide advance warning of a cancellation. However, in cases where we do know a session will be cancelled because of strike action then we will communicate this to affected students.
Please note that the situation may change at any time: if the strike is called off, some cancelled lectures may go ahead, while some lecturers may decide at a late stage to take strike action. We apologise for the disruption caused.

SSRMP Bookings
We suggest that unless students are unable to attend the modules, they do not cancel SSRMP bookings for modules due to take place over the strike period. Firstly, knowing roughly how many students would have attended means that we can feed this information back to the University. Secondly, if students cancel bookings and the strike is called off, we will not be able to reinstate those bookings. Students and Departments will not be charged for modules that do not take place.
More information on the industrial action can be found on the UCU website.
